There are various misleading figures about the length of this Great Wall.

This is because over various dynasties of China, the Great Wall was built, eroded and was later built again, rebuilt, and extended for many times. Some of the section was even rebuilt on top or right next to each other.

Therefore, it is not easy to determine the exact length of the Great Wall.

Some research shows that the latest construction, done between 1368 and 1644, extended the Great Wall to about 6000 kilometers.

Hover, in 2009, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and National Bureau of Surveying and Mapping Agency and reported that the wall is 8851.8 km, which almost 2000 km longer than the earlier stated length.

The Great Wall measurement should cover any part of the wall that was built during the seven warring states of China from 475 to 221 BC and at least seven dynasties of China from 2221 BC to 1644 AD. The Great Wall covers 15 provincial-level areas, which includes Inner Mongolia, Hubei, Tianjin, Beijing, Jilin, Henan, Heilongjiang, Shandong, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Ningxia, Qinghai, Gansu, Liaoning, and Hebei.

The wall includes over 43,721 relics such as trenches, walls, towers, walled fortresses, etc

However, research shows that the Great Wall of China was mainly built by 3 dynasties, which includes Qin dynasty, Ming dynasty, and Han dynasty.

Qin dynasty was the first dynasty of China headed by Emperor Qin Shi Huang, who built more that 500 kilometers of the Great Wall.

The second dynasty is recorded in history to have built the largest length of the Great Wall. It is estimated to have built more than 10,000 kilometers.

Ming is the latest dynasty to build the Wall and is estimated to have added another 6,000 kilometers and most of the walls we see today are just Ming’s Great Walls since most of the earlier constructions were eroded.

After a comprehensive research completed on June 5th 2012, it was concluded that the Great Wall of China is 21,196.18 Kilometers.

This latest investigation involved over 4000 technicians and took four years to complete.

This figure must be accurate because it was done using the latest technologies and published officially by the government.

It includes all walls built during the various dynasties. However, this figure does not include the fortified walls that were built in different dynasties around the northern china.

If all the fortified walls built in the northern China are included, the total length can exceed 50,000 kilometers, which is 31,000 miles.…
